Nanodropper launches 2023 Give the Gift of Vision Campaign supporting access to eyecare on a global scale
Nanodropper has launched its 2023 Give the Gift of Vision program, an effort to donate 1,500 Nanodropper Adaptors to at-need patients in the United States and its global nonprofit partners, delivering better access to vision-saving care in low resource settings in Jamaica, Ghana, Africa, Haiti, Guatemala, Mongolia, Philippines and elsewhere.
We are asking the community to support our Give the Gift of Vision program by purchasing a $25 Nanodropper bundle that will support patients in the United States and our nonprofit partners supporting global health efforts. Out of our 1,500-unit goal, nearly 1,000 units have already been donated by our amazing community.
Most eyedrop bottles waste 80 percent of its contents, and the eye can only absorb about 20-30 percent of a typical, oversized eyedrop. The Nanodropper is an adaptor for eyedrop bottles that reduces the size of a drop to just what the eye can absorb. So 1 Nanodropper Adaptor equals about 2 saved bottles of medication, and hundreds of medication doses per bottle.
Nanodropper’s nonprofit partners include Unite For Sight, Dean McGee Eye Institute Foundation, Chicago Lighthouse, Focus, Inc., CharityVision, Floating Doctors, Prevention of Blindness Society, Mission of Sight, Haiti Eye Mission, Virtue Foundation, Enfoque Ixcán and UHI Community Clinic.
“Two of the greatest obstacles to adherence are both price and convenience,” says Alan Robin, MD, an ophthalmologist and founding member of the American Glaucoma Society. “The Nanodropper has the potential to minimize both of these impediments.”
There are more than 3 million Americans living with glaucoma. Many struggle to afford their medications, and many more around the world have trouble simply gaining access to the vision-saving eyedrop medications that they need.
Nanodropper’s Give the Gift of Vision program addresses this need by taking the company’s mission a step further — it offers the public an opportunity to help those who might face a difficult choice between affording their medications or paying for other necessities, like rent or groceries, and simultaneously promoting better access to eyecare around the world.
Said one GTGOV recipient, “Wow! I cannot begin to express my thanks and gratitude for your outstanding invention. It has made a difference for my dad, who is a disabled veteran that has had glaucoma for over 50 years. Years of timed eye drops, and so much money wasted on dispensing more than one drop at a time. Now with the Nanodropper, my dad only is able to put one drop at a time in his eyes. What a huge savings for him, since he lives on a fixed income!”
Nanodropper offers an open application for any patient who cannot afford a Nanodropper in the U.S. After a simple screening process, they provide adaptors that have been donated by generous community members directly to at-need individuals.
