Nanodropper started with the mission to reduce financial barriers to care while promoting eye health. We know that everyone has a vision for tomorrow, and we believe that healthcare should ensure access to that vision, not come between it.

While we strive to make the Nanodropper affordable, affordability means something different to everyone. That is why we launched our “Pay-It-Forward” Nanodropper Adaptor. With the “Pay-It-Forward” adaptor, individuals can purchase a Nanodropper for someone who may not be able to afford it themselves.

If you would like to help others in need afford their eyecare, you can order a “Pay-It-Forward” adaptor to be delivered to its grateful recipient today.

If you or a loved one is concerned about your ability to afford your eyedrop medication and the Nanodropper is not in your budget, you can sign up to receive a “Pay-It-Forward” Nanodropper Adaptor at no cost to you. Simply fill out this form and one of our team members will be in touch to get you your adaptor.

Access to eyecare is a global problem. Over 1 Billion individuals have unaddressed visual impairments, with over 90% of those individuals living in low- or middle-income countries. Fortunately, 90% of those impairments are treatable with proper intervention and access to care. Through our partnerships with global health organizations, you can donate Nanodroppers at a reduced cost to improve access to care in low-resource settings. Every Nanodropper donated allows these organizations to serve 3 times as many individuals in need of care.

See below for a list of our active partnerships and a description of how your donation would be utilized in each effort.

Unite For Sight Ghana Program

About the Organization

Unite For Sight is a non-profit that partners with local eye clinics in Ghana, Honduras, and India to identify community-specific barriers that impede effective eye care delivery, and works with the local clinics to develop strategies to overcome the barriers through sustainable systems of care. To date, Unite For Sight has worked with local partner eye clinics to provide quality eye care to more than 2.9 million patients living in poverty who were otherwise unable to access or afford care. Unite For Sight’s local partner doctors have developed an outreach system that reduces barriers to care for the hardest-to-reach patients living in poverty. With a small ophthalmic team, the local doctors provide comprehensive eye care in outreaches to 30,000-60,000 patients each year, including more than 2,000 sight-restoring cataract surgeries by each ophthalmologist.

Donation Partnership Program

The Ghana Program involves working in cutting-edge, grassroots global health delivery programs with eye clinics in Accra, Kumasi, and Tamale. The eye clinics provide eye care to patients living in extreme poverty in villages located throughout the country of Ghana. Unite For Sight Global Impact Fellow volunteers work with the local clinic teams to provide eye care in remote rural villages that are located throughout Ghana. Each eye clinic’s team visits a different village location on a daily basis. In the villages, 100-300 patients each day receive an exam, diagnosis, eyeglasses, medication, and treatment. Patients requiring advanced ophthalmic care and surgery are transported from the villages to the local eye clinic for surgery by the local Ghanaian ophthalmologists.

Each eye clinic is an independent entity that is also a partner of Unite For Sight. Importantly each eye clinic is independently founded, led, and managed by local Ghanaian ophthalmologists who are talented social entrepreneurs and medical professionals.  While all of the eye clinics implement global health delivery programs and follow similar models, each clinic has its own unique operational and organizational structure.  The eye care professionals at the clinics have a lot of synergy, and the personnel exchange best practices and strategies.  Just as no two clinics, hospitals, or organizations are identical in the U.S., the same holds true in Ghana.

You may find more information about Unite For Sight’s Ghana Program here.

How Your Donation Will Help

The Ghana Program aims to serve individuals in remote rural villages, living in extreme poverty. This setting imposes both major financial and logistical barriers. By utilizing Nanodroppers in their eye clinics, the ophthalmologists can eliminate the waste of critical eyedrop medications and make every bottle last 3-4 times longer—meaning they can serve 3 times as many patients per bottle of medication. By extending the bottle life with the Nanodropper, the eye clinics can also be more resilient during drug shortages. For patients who require eyedrop treatments, the Nanodropper can be a critical lifeline to reduce the cost of care and allow medications to last longer in the remote rural settings where access to care is extremely limited.
