Is The Nanodropper Adaptor Reusable?
- The Nanodropper adaptor is a sterile medical device and is not intended to be taken off the bottle once installed. We recommend using one adaptor per medication bottle and discard at the end of the bottle-life. There are no FDA-approved home sterilization methods for medical devices. Reuse of the Nanodropper may lead to contamination, infection, and injury.

We receive this question often! While it can be tempting to try removing the Nanodropper Adaptor from your eyedrop bottle, there is no way to safely do this without risking contamination of the silicone tip. Touching this tip and transferring it to another bottle can lead to infection and/or injury.
The Nanodropper Adaptor is an FDA-listed, Class 1 sterile medical device. This means it is sterilized before arriving to your doorstep. When trying to remove the Nanodropper from a bottle, there is no way to do this without touching the silicone tip — this leads to contamination risk. There are no FDA-approved home sterilization methods for medical devices.
Nanodropper is committed to providing a safe product for patients and eyecare professionals. Please keep in mind that when you use a Nanodropper Adaptor, your eyedrops will now last three times as long. The amount of waste and cost that is saved by using the Nanodropper Adaptor only increases with more expensive eyedrops. Please be safe and DO NOT try to reuse your Nanodropper Adaptors! Discard them along with your bottle once the drops run out.
