Nanodropper Achieves HIPAA Compliance

Aug 12, 2020 | Our Company | 0 comments

Nanodropper has achieved compliance with the federally mandated standards of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) through the use of Compliancy Group’s proprietary HIPAA methodology, The Guard compliance tracking software, and HIPAA Seal of Compliance.

What is HIPAA?

HIPAA is made up of a set of regulatory standards governing the security, privacy, and integrity of sensitive health care data called protected health information (PHI). PHI is any demographic health care-related information that can be used to identify a patient. If vendors who service health care clients come into contact with PHI in any way, those vendors must be HIPAA compliant.

“As our brand continues to be more recognized by the patients we serve, we want them to know that we value our patients’ privacy and think this should be the standard for anyone involved in healthcare,” said Nanodropper CEO Allisa Song.

Nanodropper has completed Compliancy Group’s Six Stage Implementation Program, adhering to the necessary regulatory standards outlined in the HIPAA Privacy Rule, HIPAA Security Rule, HIPAA Breach Notification Rule, HIPAA Omnibus Rule, and HITECH. These standards have been heavily vetted against the letter of the law and meet federal NIST requirements. Nanodropper’s good faith effort toward HIPAA compliance through the use of The Guard has been verified by the HIPAA subject matter experts and Compliance Coaches® at Compliancy Group.

About Nanodropper

Nanodropper was inspired by a 2017 ProPublica article detailing just how much medication waste there is in America, specifically eyedrops that are too big. The adaptor, an FDA-listed, Class I medical device, reduces the size of a typical eyedrop by more than 60 percent, stretching the life of an eyedrop bottle by several months. The adaptor easily screws on over the tip of most eyedrop bottles.

“Our mission is to ease the burden on patients by putting money back in their pocket,” said Song. “Patients with diseases like glaucoma can save thousands of dollars per year just by using the Nanodropper with their prescribed eyedrop medication. A purchase with us does not require providing much, if any, medical information, but for anyone providing PHI, rest assured our top priority is keeping that information as safe and secure as possible.”

The HIPAA Seal of Compliance is issued to organizations that have implemented an effective HIPAA compliance program through the use of The Guard, Compliancy Group’s proprietary compliance tracking solution.
