Nanodropper Announces Medical Advisory Board
Nanodropper’s Medical Advisory Board consists of key opinion leaders and top providers in the ophthalmic and optometric space, headlined by its most recent appointee, glaucoma specialist Dr. Constance Okeke.
Nanodropper, an ophthalmic device company that makes the eyedrop volume-reducing Nanodropper Adaptor, announces its Medical Advisory Board, which recently expanded with the appointment of renowned glaucoma specialist Constance Okeke, MD, MSCE.
Dr. Okeke is an Ivy League-trained, board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in glaucoma and cataract surgery. She has more than two decades of glaucoma experience ranging from cutting edge research, mastering micro-invasive surgical techniques, to training other doctors, speaking, and writing about her techniques and innovative ideas.
Dr. Okeke has helped prevent blindness through medical missions, glaucoma awareness campaigns, and public speaking. She recently published The Glaucoma Guidebook: Expert Advice on Maintaining Healthy Vision with Johns Hopkins University Press, and founded the AGE Initiative, Advocates for Glaucoma Education.
The Nanodropper Adaptor is the first and only adaptor for eyedrop bottles that reduces eyedrop volume to just what the eye can absorb, significantly reducing medication waste and financial barriers for patients and clinics.
When Dr. Okeke heard about the Nanodropper Adaptor, she conducted her own 4-patient pilot study trialing Nanodropper with Rhopressa and Rocklatan, powerful glaucoma eyedrops that may have side effects like ocular discomfort and hyperemia (redness in the eye) which can cause patients to discontinue the medication, even though it may lower their eye pressure well.
She found that 3 of 4 patients reported they would resume use of Rocklatan or Rhopressa with Nanodropper due to the reduced side effects from Nanodropper’s smaller drop size.
“That’s all I really needed to see. This was addressing a specific problem I’ve had with patients keeping them on these powerful medications,” said Dr. Okeke. “Nanodropper also extends the life of the bottle, creating meaningful savings for my patients in addition to improving their quality of life.”
“We’re so fortunate to have such an influential, passionate group of eyecare professionals dedicated to improving their standard of care with Nanodropper,” said Allisa Song, CEO of Nanodropper.
Below are bios of the additional Nanodropper Medical Advisory Board members.
Alan Robin MD
Dr. Robin has been a global leader in glaucoma research and treatment for decades. His research on microvolume delivery, which concluded that smaller eyedrops are just as efficacious as current oversized drops, directly inspired the creation of the Nanodropper Adaptor.
He was a founding member of the American Glaucoma Society and has been a member for more than 30 years, and was instrumental in establishing the glaucoma service at the renowned Aravind Eye Hospital in India. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Yale University and completed his ophthalmology studies at Tufts University.
Peter Daniel MD
Dr. Daniel, of Southern Eye Associates, is a comprehensive ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery and glaucoma care, including medical and surgical management, laser treatment, trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage devices, and MIGS (Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery). He completed his studies at Medical College of Georgia and did his residency and glaucoma fellowship at Callahan Eye Foundation.
Jordan Stanley MD
Dr. Stanley is an ophthalmologist in Decatur, GA, and serves veterans of the United States Armed Forces with the Atlanta Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Alabama Medical Center and glaucoma fellowship at the University of Colorado. Dr. Stanley was an early adopter of the Nanodropper and one of the company’s first eyecare professional supporters.
Rob Wooldridge OD
Dr. Wooldridge is Director of the Eye Foundation of Utah and founding member of the Optometric Glaucoma Society. Over the past 30-plus years, he has provided thousands of lectures to his peers throughout the U.S. and beyond about glaucoma and eye care. He has also served as an Adjunct Clinical Instructor for many schools and colleges of optometry, teaching advanced care to optometry students throughout his career. In his role as Education Chairman for the Utah Optometric Association and the Mountain West Council of Optometry, he has developed educational programs for doctors attending state and regional meetings to further their education.
