Nanodropper CEO Allisa Song Named to 2022 Worthy 100 List
The Worthy 100 list, celebrating ‘worth beyond wealth’ and highlighting some of the most influential people in the world this year, includes Mackenzie Scott, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, Dolly Parton, Warren Buffett, Jon Stewart, David Attenborough, Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Yvon Chouinard, and Volodymyr Zelensky.
Worth Magazine, a New York-based global media platform connecting a community that embraces “worth beyond wealth,” recently announced its illustrious 2022 Worthy 100 list celebrating the 100 people who made the biggest impact in 2022.
Nanodropper CEO Allisa Song was named to the Worthy 100 list, along with modern luminaries like philanthropist and author Mackenzie Scott, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, musical legend and activist Dolly Parton, business tycoon Warren Buffett, comedian Jon Stewart, David Attenborough, actors/activists Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“It’s surreal to be named among some of my heroes on this list,” Song said. An M.D. Candidate at Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine, she was also named a 2021 Forbes 30 Under 30 Honoree along with Nanodropper’s co-founding team.
Song invented the Nanodropper Adaptor after reading a 2017 ProPublica article that detailed significant medication waste in every eyedrop, and how the cost of that waste was directly transferred to patients. The Nanodropper Adaptor twists onto eyedrop bottles and reduces the size of eyedrops by nearly 70%, to just what the eye can absorb. This triples the life of the medication supply, significantly reducing waste and cost. Smaller drops have also been shown to reduce the risk of adverse side effects from eyedrop medications.
After going to market in 2020, the Nanodropper Adaptor is now available at eyecare clinics in all 50 states in more than 1,500 locations across the country, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Patients can also purchase them directly at nanodropper.com.
The Worthy 100 list celebrates “entrepreneurs, business leaders, investors, celebrities, and philanthropists that added the most value to the world in the last year,” according to their website.
More than just an invention, Song and the Nanodropper team are focused on disrupting the current healthcare model by fostering a patient-centered approach and emphasizing value, improving health outcomes for patients at a lower cost. Nanodropper has also worked with global nonprofits to deliver Nanodroppers to low resource settings in multiple continents.
“The contributions the Worthy 100 list have made this year, and throughout each of their lives, have changed the world for the better,” Song said. “Our impact on ocular health is already being felt on a national and global level. My team and I will continue to strive to improve patient care all over the world, one drop at a time.”
